Who is this God who would lead His people to the brink of disaster? He is a God of all-mighty power and infinite wisdom.
Joshua 3:17, “The priests who carried the ark of the Covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel passed by until the whole had completed the crossing on dry ground.”
God knew that the Jordan overflowed its banks at the time of harvest. Why did He lead the people to the brink of the river at this particular time? God had a plan for His people and He wanted them to trust him in spite of any obstacle they might face. How often have we had to face situations with inadequate supply.
In the New Testament there were two situations where Christ provided the supply that was needed. He fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fish. He also provided wine for a wedding when the supply ran low by turning water into wine.
Who is this God who would lead His people to the brink of disaster? He is a God of all-mighty power and infinite wisdom. Nothing is too hard for God to do. What are some of His mighty acts?
1. He caused the sun to stand still
2. He caused the sun dial to go backward ten degrees.
3. He caused the flinty rock to pour out rivers of water, when the Children of Israel were thirsty in the wilderness.
4. He caused the ravens to feed Elijah, by the brook Cherith.
5. He caused the iron to swim, when the axe head was lost in the water.
6. He caused the fire not to burn, when the Hebrew children were thrown into the fiery furnace.
If such a God be for us, who can be against us? There are two examples in the New Testament of how God provided in impossible situations.
1. Feeding the multitude with five loaves and two fishes.
2. Supplying wine at the wedding of Cana in Galilee.
If God Could
If God can hang the stars on high,
Can paint the clouds that drift on by;
Can send the sun across the sky,
What could He do through you?
If He can send a storm through space,
And dot with trees the mountain’s face;
If He, the sparrow’s way can trace,
What could He do through you?
If God can do such little things
As count our hairs, or birds that sing,
Control the universe that swings,
What could He do through you?
