What Is That In Your Hand?

God is still looking for people that he can use today. God will use whatever you are willing to surrender to Him.

Exodus 4:2, “Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied.

There is an incident that took place while Moses was conversing with God at the burning bush.  Moses had been told that he was to go to Egypt and deliver God's people.  He told God that it would be better to send someone else.

Allen Anderson wrote:

"Impatient hearts want action now!

They fear God's time will be too late:

How prone we are to rush ahead-

When God says, 'wait!'"

In this passage Moses is reluctant to obey God because of his past failure when intervening between two quarreling Israelites. An unknown author wrote:

"But hearts debate and question God

Our hesitating feet are slow,

We yield to cautious reasoning

When God says, 'Go!'"

As Moses argued with God, the Lord asked him, “what is that in your hand.”  The Lord used the rod in Moses' hand to produce some outstanding miracles. God is still looking for people that he can use today. What is that in your hand? God will use whatever you are willing to surrender to Him.
